We are a world wide organization for girls and have been going for nearly a hundred years. There as been many changes over these years from the uniform to the programme we offer. many of you reading this may have been Brownies or Guides or even Leaders and you may still think that we do the same things like knitting and sewing or knots well we do still try and cover traditional skills along with a more up to date programme. The movement encourage girls and young women to develope their skills in leadership, team work and using their initiative. This we do by getting the girls to plan their meetings and outings during the term. We are at present planning to visit the Science Museum and to get a trainer in to do some signing for people with hearing problems both these ideas were decided by the girls. We take the girls away camping and holidays both locally and sometimes further a field we have yet to go aboard as a unit.
I am helped by 4 other young women one of which is travelling at the moment and one as just returned from 2 years of travelling. We all work full time so we are very busy people and give up a lot of time to our Guiding. We have all been members of Guiding as children and including my time as a Brownie I have been involved for 40 years so I have seen loads of changes.
